About this course

The course will teach you to express yourself using acrylics, depicting the objects arranged in a specific way. You will study the first hand observations and paint them in a contemporary loose style. This course involves working in acrylics.

By the end of the course learners will learn how to compose an abstract image and how to manipulate the acrylic paint by using different techniques to create abstract flower compositions. They complete at least one work on canvas.

We will look at how one might begin on a ‘blank canvas’, how to build up a work paying attention to sketching, tone and colour, how to spot problems along the way and finishing touches.

•Working out innovative, dynamic compositions, full of energy and colours

•Using a bright, colourful palette, with dynamic and bold mark making

•Painting techniques: impasto, scumbling, sgrafitto, layering and blending

The art materials are to be discussed during the first session of the course when the tutor will cover the topic.
