Able Orchestra: Get Involved

Explore Able Orchestra (AO) opportunities below:

If you are a disabled young person, parent or carer, contact us to try one of our groups (ensembles). You can see the locations listed below. All activity is FREE and financial support with transport is available.

AO North Ensemble: 

Use specialist digital instruments to create and perform original music with others! No experience neccessary. AO North Ensemble is a safe space where you can express yourself creatively.

When: Wednesdays during term-time, 4:30-6.00pm

Venue: Portland College, Nottingham Road, Mansfield, NG18 4TJ. 

AO North Ensemble is currently full, please contact us to discuss a taster and being placed on the waiting list.


AO South Ensemble: 

Use specialist digital instruments to create and perform original music with others!  No experience neccessary. AO South Ensemble is a safe space where you can express yourself creatively.

When: Mondays during term-time, 4-5:30pm

Venue: Ash Lea School, Owthorpe Road, Cotgrave, Nottingham, NG12 3PA.


AO at TOL:

Open to 18-25 year olds looking to take their music making to the next stage*! Explore traditional and digital instruments in a professional recording studio environment. Write and record original music alongside like-minded others.

*AO at TOL is a small group. It is recommended that participants have some experience of music to get the most out of the session. 

When: Thursdays during term-time, 4:30-6pm

Venue: The Old Library, Leeming Street, Mansfield, NG18 1NG

Our groups are open to young people, aged 11-25*, across Nottinghamshire, who identify as:

  • physically and/or learning disabled
  • neurodivergent
  • D/deaf
  • Blind
  • Hearing and/or sight impaired
  • Living with a long term health and/or mental health condition

*Young people are welcome to join in the academic year (September-August) that they turn 25. They may stay until the end of the academic year.


Schools/Community Organisations

Inspire Youth Arts work with schools and community organisations to deliver AO taster sessions and regular digital music sessions during the school day.
