About this course

In this course the learner will be able to use IT systems, respond to common problems and be able to organise, store and retrieve information. The learner will also understand the need for safety and security practices, and they will be able to respond to common IT system problems.


In addition, the learner will be able to get online with an internet connection, use browser software and tools for navigation, searching and communicating information whilst following safe and secure practices when working online.


By the end of the course, students will be able to interact with and use IT systems to meet needs, be able to organise, store and retrieve information, understand the need for safety and security practices and be able to respond to common IT system problems. 


They will also be able to connect to the internet, be able to use browser software to navigate web pages, be able to use browser tools to search for information from the Internet or an intranet, be able to use browser software to communicate information online and be able to follow safety and security practices when working online.


You will need:

  • Notepad and Pen

This is for students that have not used computes much before and would like to learn some basic IT skills. 


This is a great pathway onto the level one courses of either spreadsheets or work processing.

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:

  • Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield 
  • Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
  • Greater London
  • Greater Manchester
  • Liverpool City Region
  • Newcastle Upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Northumberland
  • Tees Valley

1) FREE - if you earn less than £20,319 gross salary or are on a means-tested benefit.

2) PAYMENT HELP AVAILABLE - if you earn more than £20,319 (annual gross salary) but are on a low-income, we might be able to help pay part or all of your course fees. Email: learning@inspireculture.org.uk for an application form or if you have any questions.

3) CO-FUNDED - if you are on a higher-income, the government will pay approximately half of your course fees.
