About this course

This course will enable parents to gain knowledge and understanding of their child’s development at each stage. On completion of the course parents will be able to provide their child with enriching play opportunities that aid development.  


This will be supported with information from Birth to five matters. 


Within each age range learners will explore the different developmental areas, which include: 

  • Personal, social & emotional development 
  • Physical development 
  • Communication and language 
  • Literacy & Math’s  
  • Understanding of the world/ expressive arts & design  

Each week learners will explore different developmental areas. Parents will develop their understanding of how they can help their child to develop through quality play opportunities and broaden their knowledge of activities that enable learning.  


What will learners achieve by the end of the course?  

  • Learners will have a more thorough understanding of how their child develops and how they can aid that development through play.  
  • Have sound knowledge of Birth to 5 matters, which will not only enable them to use this at home but will give them the confidence to be able to know what their child should be learning in other educational settings e.g. nursery, childminders… 
  • Have a wider variety of activities to try with their child and understand how that aids   development. 

1-3 years  


Learners should bring:

  • Paper/card, pencil, glue or needle and thread, household items e.g. plastic bottles, fabric/felt, paint, glitter/food dye, corn flour, shaving foam.  

Materials can be found in stores e.g. The works, Wilkinson’s, The pound shop, local supermarkets. They can also be found online e.g. Amazon or ordered from the retailers above.

  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
