About this course

Over four sessions, this course will give you the tools and confidence to start writing poetry in a variety of forms including free verse and haiku. We will use real life objects and images as prompts for writing, and use examples of different types of poems to get us started. This course is aimed at beginners, so no experience is needed.   


By attending this course: 


- You will have drafted poems in at least four different poetic forms  

- You will be able to recognize poetic forms such as free verse, haiku, concrete poetry 

- You will be able to recognize poetic techniques such as simile and metaphor, and use them in your own poems,    

- You will have shared your work in the group  


Resources required by attendees

  • Pen and notepad, preferably A4

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.


Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
