About this course

In this course, the learner will understand how to use a spreadsheet to enter, edit and organise numerical and other data, how to use appropriate formulas and tools to summarise and display spreadsheet information, and know how to select and use appropriate tools and techniques to present spreadsheet information effectively.


You will need:

  • Notepad & Pen

Skills taught will be how to use a spreadsheet to enter, edit and organise numerical and other data, as well as combine and link data across worksheets. You will store and retrieve spreadsheet files effectively, in line with local guidelines and conventions where available and select and use appropriate formulas and data analysis tools to meet requirements. In addition, you will check that information meets needs, using spreadsheet tools and making corrections as necessary and describe how to find errors in spreadsheet formulas.


This course should only be studied after completion of a level one course in Excel.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:

  • Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield

  • Greater Manchester
  • Liverpool City Region

1) FREE - if you earn less than £20,319 gross salary or are on a means-tested benefit.

2) PAYMENT HELP AVAILABLE - if you earn more than £20,319 (annual gross salary) but are on a low-income, we might be able to help pay part or all of your course fees. Email: learning@inspireculture.org.uk for an application form or if you have any questions.

3) CO-FUNDED - if you are on a higher-income, the government will pay approximately half of your course fees.
