Adventures in Music Online: Information for Parents & Carers

Inspire are delighted to be introducing a series of live online sessions, brought to you from the comfort of your own home!

These new sessions will take place via the Zoom online platform for families to access at home and will be delivered by one our talented music tutors.

Our aim is to create a welcoming and safe online environment for families to continue taking part in our cultural programme.

How it works

  • Adventures in Music is a small group, interactive session for children aged 2 - 5, led by an Inspire Music teacher.
  • Sessions will take place on Zoom  (more information about Zoom is below if you haven't used it before)
  • You need to book a place in advance – as only those with bookings will be admitted to the session.  You will be emailed a Zoom meeting link when you book your place.
  • Each child will receive an Adventures in Music resources pack. Packs contain musical instruments  to use during the sessions along with a musical passport to track your child’s progress and the skills they learn.    We'll ask for your address when you book.
  • On the day of the session - a waiting room is enabled to ensure only those who have booked places are admitted.  To help makes this process as smooth as possible participants are asked to ensure their Zoom account name matches the name on their booking.
  • In order to ensure children are able to see and hear the Adventures teacher clearly, microphones of  participants may be muted during the session.

Safeguarding

  • Adventures in Music is led by an  Inspire Music teacher.  All our teachers  have completed online teaching training as part of their ongoing safeguarding training and have an enhanced DBS clearance.
  • During the COVID-19 period, Adventures in Music will be run from the teacher’s home.
  • Participants are required to book in advance.  A waiting room is enabled to ensure only those who have booked places are admitted.
  • Anyone without a booking will not be admitted to the session
  • Adventures in Music is highly interactive  - Parents /Carers are required to stay with their child throughout the session.  To maximize interaction it will be helpful for the Inspire music teacher to be able to see children taking part.  But parents have control over their video and microphone and so are able switch on and off as required.
  • All Zoom sessions will be recorded and archived confidentially, for the safeguarding of both the  Inspire teacher and children taking part. Recordings will only be accessed if an issue is raised by parent or teacher.
  • By accepting the Zoom invitation you are consenting for your child/yourself to take part and if you/your child does not wish to be in a session that is recorded can you please let the teacher know at the start of the session.
  • Inspire Music have access to  teachers schedules so that we are aware of the timing of delivery.
Safeguarding issues or complaints should be raised with Inspire Music either by Email: imt@inspireculture.org.uk or Tel: 0115 977 3287
