Terms and Conditions: Design a Musical Playground Competition

A drawing competition for children aged 4-11, celebrating Read to the Beat, Summer Reading Challenge 2026.

Terms and Conditions

The Competition

  • The competition is organised and administered by Inspire:  Culture, Learning and Libraries as the promoter.
  • Inspire is the trading name of Culture, Learning and Libraries (Midlands), a Community Benefit Society registered under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. 
  • The title of the competition is Design a Musical Playground.
  • The task is to design and draw a musical themed playground in celebration of the 2026 Summer Reading Challenge.

Eligibility

  • The competition is only open to children aged 4 – 11 who live in, or attend school, in the county of Nottinghamshire.
  • Employees of Inspire directly involved in the competition, and their immediate families, are not eligible to enter.
  • All entrants must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to take part. We cannot accept entries that do not include this permission and contact details.

Entry Requirements

  • All drawings must be the original work of the child.
  • Only one entry per child is permitted.
  • Entries must be submitted by 31 August 2026.
  • Entries must include the child’s name, age, postcode, school plus a parent/guardian’s contact details and permission to enter with the entry.
  • The promoter (Inspire:  Culture Learning and Libraries) will not accept responsibility for competition entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged, or delayed in transit regardless of cause.
  • Submitted artwork cannot be returned.

Submission Format

  • Completed entry forms can be handed in at any Inspire Nottinghamshire library before 31 August 2026 or posted to: Inspire HQ, Unit 4 -6, Glaisdale Parkway, Nottingham NG8 4GP (marked Design a Musical Playground Competition)  
  • Digital entries should be emailed to: 
    musicalplaygroundcompetition@inspireculture.org.uk  as PDF, JPEG or PNG  (maximum file size of 25MB)
  • Only 2D entries will be considered.
  • Entry forms can be downloaded from www.inspireculture.org.uk/musicalplayground 

Judging and Prizes

  • Entries will be judged by panel of judges, of Inspire and arcpartnership staff based on creativity, originality, and effort.
  • One winner and two highly commended will be selected from each age category (4 – 7 and 8 – 11).
  • The winner in each age category will receive a prize bundle that includes a VTech electronic music toy (DJ Mixer or Drum set), headphones and a £30 shopping voucher. Children attending a school in Nottinghamshire County Council area will also be awarded £100 of books for their school.
  • Highly Commended entrants will receive a £15 book token.
  • Prizes are not transferable, cannot be re-sold and no cash alternative will be offered.
  • The Promoter reserves the right to replace a prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond the Promoter's control makes it necessary to do so.
  • The decision of the Marketing and Communications Manager is final in all matters relating to a competition.
  • No correspondence will be entered into on any matters arising from the competition.

Announcement of Winners

  • Winners will be contacted using the telephone number or email address provided before 30 September 2026, where possible.
  • Failure to claim the prize within the given timeframe will make any claim invalid and Inspire may re-allocate the prize.

Use of Artwork

  • By entering, participants agree that their artwork may be shared on the website and social media of Inspire, Nottinghamshire County Council and arcparternship.
  • Children will keep the copyright of their artwork.
  • Parental permission will be requested before any child’s name or photograph is published.

Data Protection

  • We will collect only the minimum personal information necessary to run the competition and confirm eligibility. 
  • This information will not be shared with third parties or used for marketing.
  • All data will be securely stored and deleted after the competition ends.
