Voices presents a thought-provoking collection of poetry created by and with people whose voices, for health, social or age-related reasons, may be rarely heard, combined with photography of those involved.
Poet Ben Norris worked with four very different groups across Nottinghamshire to develop a body of poems that express their experiences, stories and feelings. The groups included elderly people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, refugees, and people living with or affected by mental health issues. The sessions were documented by lens-based artist Ben Harriott.
The poetry and photographs were curated into a touring exhibition, and published in the anthology you see on this page.
All the works from the physical exhibition can now also be viewed online.
The project was supported by National Lottery funding through Arts Council England.
